Utilizing the GRAY code, a three-phase (solid, liquid and vapor) equation of state (EOS) for metals, a systematic calculations were performed on hcp and bcc lead to obtain its melting curve, shock Hugoniot, 300 K isotherm, compression isentrope and release isentrope. From the systematic comparison, experimental melting results obtained from time-resolved X-ray diffraction are more advisable. The shock pressures where the Hugoniot enters and exits the melting curve are determined at about 52 and 67 GPa, respectively. The shock pressures were released to the solid and liquid phase at room pressure and melting temperature are about 27 and 36 GPa, respectively. The bcc phase EOS up to 1000 GPa have been calculated using separate sets of parameters.
