Abnormal subcellular localization of AQP5 and downregulated AQP5 protein in parotid glands of streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats

► A common complaint associated with diabetes mellitus is xerostomia. ► Xerostomia leads to a vicious cycle of morbidity. ► Lack of AQP5 translocation in salivary gland and downregulation of AQP5 lead to diabetic xerostomia. ► Cevimeline is useful to cure diabetic xerostomia under insulin administration.
