Transcriptome and gene expression profile of ovarian follicle tissue of the triatomine bug Rhodnius prolixus

► A transcriptome of ovarian follicular epithelium of Rhodnius prolixus is analyzed. ► The role of follicular epithelium in egg development and chorion formation is studied. ► Transcripts related to Unfolded-Protein Response (UPR) were quantified. ► UPR transcripts were up-regulated in early and downregulated in late stages of egg development. ► UPR transcript profile makes follicle cells a model to study survival vs. apoptosis.
