Cytosolic and calcium-independent phospholipase A2 mediate glioma-enhanced proangiogenic activity of brain endothelial cells

► Glioma CM stimulates phosphorylation of cPLA2, PKCα, and ERK1/2 in ECs. ► Glioma CM increased cPLA2 and iPLA2 enzyme activities and expression. ► Blockade of cPLA2 and iPLA2 activities with specific antibodies or siRNAs significantly reduces CMstimulated proliferation. ► Measurement of PGE2 levels in growth media are correlated with PLA2 activity and PLA2 and COX-2 expression.
