Anticonvulsive effect of vitamin C on pentylenetetrazol-induced seizures in immature rats

►The application of vitamin C causes an increase in the concentration of progesterone. ►Progesterone and its metabolites induce an increase in the inhibitory response. ►Vitamin C is involved in the protection against seizures-induced by PTZ. ►The increase mainly of inhibitory amino acids produces a modulating effect. ►The increases of amino acids after the ictal phase indicate an increased synthesis of them. ►Vitamin C induces an increase in the concentration of amino acids neurotransmitters.
