Efficient embryogenic suspension culturing and rapid transformation of a range of elite genotypes of sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas [L.] Lam.)

▶ A genotype-independent genetic transformation system for sweet potato was developed. ▶ Embryogenic suspension cultures were established in elite cultivars and were used for efficient production of transgenic sweet potato using Agrobacterium-mediated gene delivery. ▶ Molecular analysis confirmed the transgenic nature of regenerated sweet potato plants.
