Molecular and morphometric analysis of the rat ventral prostate injected with leptin

► Leptin is known to be an important regulator for the reproductive system. ► Adult rats were injected with leptin (8 μg/100gBW,sc) or saline for 4 days. ► The ventral prostate lobe was evaluated for PCNA, gene expression and morphology. ► Morphology and PCNA analysis showed an increase in proliferation by leptin. ► Leptin increased the expression of several important genes on the prostate gland.
