• A ternary system water + tetradecane + propylene glycol n-propyl ether was chosen.
• The fish-shaped phase diagram of the ternary system was reported.
• The upper and lower critical solution temperatures of the system were, respectively, 300.90 and 280.00 K.
• LLE data for this ternary system were determined at T = 298.15, 308.15 and 318.15 K under atmospheric pressure.
• The NRTL model was applied to correlate the experimental data.
Fish-shaped phase diagram at a fixed water/tetradecane mass ratio (1/1) and three triangle phase diagrams at T = (298.15, 308.15, and 318.15) K of the ternary (water + tetradecane + 1-methyl-2-propoxyethoxy-2-propanol) were performed under atmospheric pressure. The upper and lower critical solution temperatures of the system were (300.90 and 280.00) K, respectively, according to the fish-shaped phase diagram. The experimental results of the ternary system were satisfactorily correlated by the NRTL equation.
