Phosphate-limited growth and uptake kinetics of the marine prasinophyte Tetraselmis suecica (Kylin) Butcher

► PO4-limited growth kinetics of T. suecica are hyperbolic with Km = 3.45 nM. ► The Vmax of short-term uptake kinetics is 100-1000 times associated growth rates. ► Cellular C:P ratios and growth rates are consistent with the Droop hyperbola. ► Protein content varies from ~ 7% at zero growth rate to ~ 59% at μmax. ► Chlorophyll a/carbon ratios are linearly related to growth rate.
