Currently, colchicine is the only medication to treat a gout attack. However, research into the physiopathology of gout has led to the development of interleukin inhibitors (IL)-β2. These new drugs offer the advantage of more targeted action, on the level of an oligomeric protein complex, the inflammasome. They are thought to inhibit the pro-inflammatory action of IL-β2 and thereby limit uratic inflammation.
