Study on Chinese Medicine Component Combinations for Treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis

Objective: This research was intended to provide a new method for chemical component combinations for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis using clinical formula data. Method: First, 1569 traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) clinical articles about curing rheumatoid arthritis were selected from the clinical literature database. Second, chemical components were obtained from formulas described in TCM clinical articles through Chinese medicine pharmacological test database. Third, according to western medicine for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, these chemical components having the same pharmacological effects were filtered. Finally, in terms of component combinations mentioned in pharmacological test literature, component combinations for treating rheumatoid arthritis were discovered. Result: According to prescriptions deriving from a formula named ChuBiTang for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis wind-damp-heat syndrome, six component combinations were obtained. Conclusion: The method put forward in this article of Chinese medicine component combinations for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis is reasonable and applicable.
