Gene Control of Acupuncture and Moxibustion Preconditioning on Apoptosis in Ischemic Cardiac Muscle Cells with Reperfusion

Effects of acupuncture and moxibustion preconditioning were investigated on cell apoptosis in rats subjected to cardiac muscle reperfusion and the expression of C-fos mRNA. The results showed that after treatments apoptotic cells were reduced by an upregulation of C-fos mRNA expression. Administration of acupuncture and moxibustion was more effective than that of ischemic preconditioning in defending cell apoptosis, and twice-daily was better than once-daily treatment.
