Asbestos exposure from the overhaul of a Pratt & Whitney R2800 engine

► We overhauled an aircraft piston engine to determine possible asbestos exposure. ► The mechanics used normal work practices. ► Asbestos was observed in bulk samples; asbestos was observed in a few air samples at ambient concentrations. ► Mechanics overhauling aircraft piston engines are not exposed to elevated asbestos concentrations.
