Comment prendre en charge une hyponatrémie ?

Hyponatremia is the most common electrolytic disorder, which mainly impairs cerebral function. Hyponatremia associated with cerebral injury and symptoms requires a rapid treatment with hypertonic saline. Otherwise, the treatment depends on natriuresis. When natriuresis is elevated, hyponatremia can be treated by increasing osmolarity (urea) or by volume expansion. When natriuresis is low, patient needs restriction of water intake. In patient without cerebral injury and neurological symptoms, profound hyponatremia must be softly managed to avoid central pontine myelinolysis. Moderate hyponatremia only requires water intake restriction.
