Since their creation, the Cahiers de nutrition et de diététique have given an important space to social sciences and humanities. Jean Trémolières and Jean Claudian - who worked for a time in Romania at the Social Sciences Institute of Dimitrie Gusti - contributed to set up a framework open to HSS within the nutritional sciences. The CND's history can be divided into three phases. The production of articles about social topics have first been provided by physicists or actors in the field of health. The second period is characterised by a scientification of nutritional sciences and a call on HSS, but also, paradoxically, by a very low production linked with difficulties in the institutionnalisation of food as an object. Finally, the third phase has witnessed a relatively high production from a variety of disciplines, so that the CND have turned into a publishing and legitimising space for HSS on food. The contemporary dialogue has developed regarding topics such as nutritional prevention and the critique of medicalisation, food modernity and destructuration, risks perception and consumers'distrust, or knowledge of markets and consumers. We conclude by drawing lines for the upcoming dialogue between HSS and nutritional sciences.
