Associations of pancreatic β-cell function and insulin resistance with microalbuminuria in type 2 diabetes

• A cross-sectional study was conducted to evaluate the associations of microalbuminuria with pancreatic β-cell function and insulin resistance in type 2 diabetes.
• 524 type 2 diabetic patients aged 30–75 years with the diabetic duration of 0.1–40 years were included in the study.
• The study suggests that insulin resistance is associated with an increased prevalence of microalbuminuria in patients with type 2 diabetes, while improved pancreatic β-cell function is linked to decreased rates of microalbuminuria for those patients.
