Intraoperative spinal cord monitoring using combined motor and sensory evoked potentials recorded from the spinal cord during surgery for intramedullary spinal cord tumor

• We used spinal cord evoked potentials (SCEP) during intramedullary cord tumor surgery.
• The sensory tract was monitored using SCEP after electrical spinal cord stimulation.
• The motor tract was monitored using SCEP after transcranial electrical stimulation.
• We found substantial differences in SCEP responses between cases.
• Multimodal SCEP is a useful means of monitoring spinal cord function during surgery.
