Diagnostic des crises psychogènes non épileptiques

Psychogenic non-epileptic seizures (PNES) are defined as paroxysmal and transient behavioral manifestations, suggestive of epileptic seizures but that are related to psychogenic mechanisms and not related to an excessive neuronal discharge. PNES are invalidating and at the border between neurology and psychiatry. Diagnosis is often delayed for several years, and made by default instead of relying on a positive approach. The diagnostic process is fundamental: striving for the highest degree of certainty is crucial because it will determine the quality of the announcement. Indeed, the less ambiguous the announcement, the better the adherence to the treatment and the better the prognosis.
