Encéphalite herpétique due au virus herpès simplex de type 2

Adult central nervous system (CNS) infection due to herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) is rare. Newborns can be infected during delivery because of mother genital infection. Adult CNS infection causes most often a meningitis without brain involvement. We describe a case of encephalitis due to HSV-2 in an immunocompetent adult woman. This rare presentation was remarquable because of a normal brain imaging despite language impairment and cerebrospinal fluid high lymphocytosis with low glucose level.
