Psychological Outcome, Fatigue, and Quality of Life After Infection With Shiga Toxin-Producing Escherichia coli O104

Six months after the major outbreak of STEC infection in northern Germany, a substantial number of patients had poor psychological health, persistent fatigue, and impaired quality of life. For future outbreaks, patients' premorbid risk factors should be considered, which might minimize the long-term effects of infections on mental health.
