Three cases using platelet-rich plasma to cure chronic soft tissue lesions

PurposeTo report and discuss the three cases of patients with chronic non-healing wounds who underwent PRP therapy.MethodsAfter thorough debridement and necessary dressing changes, 30–50 ml of whole blood was drawn from the patient’s vein, from which PRP was extracted and applied to the wound. Seven or ten days later the wound was rechecked and other successive treatments were carried out if needed.ResultsAll three patients achieved complete recovery and no recurrence reported (Pictures of the whole therapies were enclosed).ConclusionPRP is a novel way to cure the chronic wounds, which can be used as a substitution when a wound goes non-healing and responds badly to the conventional treatments, such as dressing changing and some recombinant growth factors.
