Hypercalcemia and Osteolytic Bone Lesions in B-Cell Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia: A Case Report

Hypercalcemia and osteolytic bone lesions are rare associations of chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Different pathogenetic mechanisms have been postulated. We report a case of chronic lymphocytic leukemia with hypercalcemia, osteolytic bone lesions, and pathologic fractures without the evidence of Richter's transformation. Hypercalcemia was present at diagnosis and resolved with chemotherapy but recurred with disease progression and development of osteolytic bone lesions. A review of the literature is presented.
