In conclusion, the addition of a potent antioxidant cocktail to conventional vitamin supplements had no effect on severity of ESRD-induced oxidative stress, inflammation, hypertension, anemia, or nutritional disorders in hemodialysis patients. Thus, high doses of vitamins beyond the routinely prescribed vitamin supplements do not appear to be indicated in this population.
