Plasticity in the synaptic number associated with neuropathic pain in the rat spinal dorsal horn: A stereological study

▶ The stereological optical disector was used to estimate the number of synapses. ▶ Synaptic number increased by 86% after chronic constriction injury of sciatic nerve. ▶ Neuropathic pain leads to plasticity change of synaptic number in the spinal dorsal horn.
