Inhomogeneous epidemics on weighted networks

► We define an epidemic model on a weighted network. ► We investigate how individual heterogeneity affects the basic reproduction number and probability of a large outbreak. ► The general result is that the basic reproduction number is increasing with heterogeneity. ► The affect on the probability of a large outbreak is more complicated.
