Modelling and inference for epidemic models featuring non-linear infection pressure

► We consider an SIR epidemic model with infection rate non-linear in the number of infectives. ► The threshold behaviour is markedly different to the standard SIR model. ► Methods for Bayesian statistical inference are also described and illustrated.
