Observations of strong near-bottom current after the passage of Typhoon Pabuk in the South China Sea

► We found strong near-bottom current events twice after the typhoon. ► Near-inertial current is strongest in the upper layer, weakest in the middle layer. ► Strong near-bottom current was supported by transport of near-inertial wave energy.
