Aftershock analysis of the 2005 November 27 (Mw 5.8) Qeshm Island earthquake (Zagros-Iran): Triggering of strike-slip faults at the basement

► We installed 17 seismic stations after 2005 Qeshm earthquake for aftershock study. ► In this study we analysis 2617 aftershocks and calculate 183 focal mechanisms. ► Focal mechanisms are dominantly strike-slip different from main-shock. ► The main-shock triggered shear motions in the Zagros basement. ► The result is consistent with basement rotation beneath main-shock reverse rupture.
