چکیده انگلیسی
Novel strategies to improve efficacy and safety of pharmacological therapies for obesity and diabetes are needed. Normal adipose tissue function is critical for the maintenance of metabolic homeostasis. When its function is impaired such as in obesity, insulin resistance and impaired insulin secretion result. Adipose tissue's key role in regulating metabolism and the superficial anatomical location of subcutaneous fat make it amenable to targeted drug delivery. Results presented in this manuscript demonstrate the development and characterization of lipophilic-coated, magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) for targeted delivery of the anti-diabetic drug, rosiglitazone to adipose tissue as a potential approach to enhance rosiglitazone safety for treatment of Type 2 Diabetes.262
