For the first time MCM-41 functionalized by 3-aminopropyl (MCM-41-NH2) was used for electrode modification and electrocatalytic oxidation of amino acids. The modified electrode was applied for amino acids detection using cyclic voltammetry, differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) and flow injection analysis (FIA). The modified electrode shows many advantages as an amino acids sensor such as simple preparation method without using any specific electron transfer mediator or specific reagent, high sensitivity, excellent catalytic activity, short response time, long term stability and remarkable antifouling property toward for amino acids and its oxidation product.
► Electrooxidation of amino acids was performed using MCM-41-NH2.
► Modified electrode shows many advantages as an amino acids sensor.
► Excellent electrocatalytic activity was obtained for amino acids oxidation.
► The response of the modified electrode is linear over the entire 100–900 nM.
