Problem of Air Pollution and Road Freight in European Union

The aim of this paper is to present the meaning of freight in a national and urban transport system. In the first part of this study there were shown issues and problems connected with coordinating the passenger traffic and loads in cities. Next, we personalized the data on the volume of transportation operations performed in road freight in European Union. There was also presented the influence of freight on the environment. An important element of this study is presenting the estimate for the years 2014-2020. This estimate covers forecasting the volume of transportation operations and greenhouse gas emissions due to transportation. The study ends with an analysis showing the strength and direction of the dependence between the volume of road transportation and emission of dangerous substances to the atmosphere in the European Union
