The adsorption of copper (II) and zinc (II) from aqueous solution onto calcined Animal Bone Meal (ABM) was investigated as a function of pH, contact time, temperature and ABM dosage, adsorption capacity and adsorption isotherms by employing a batch adsorption technique. Flame atomic absorption spectrometry was used to determine the Cu(II) and Zn(II) concentrations in the filtrate solution after the adsorption process. ABM was characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR spectra, SEM, XRD spectra and BET. The adsorption kinetic data were well described with a pseudo-second-order model. The thermodynamic parameters ÎH°, ÎS° and ÎG° were evaluated and showed that the adsorption of Cu(II) and Zn(II) onto ABM was feasible, spontaneous and endothermic under the studied conditions.
