Crystal structure and hirshfeld surface analysis of 4-Methoxy-2-nitrobenzonitrile

The title molecule, C8H6N2O3 is crystallized in the monoclinic crystal system with the space group P21/c and with unit cell parameters a = 6.326(2) Å, b = 7.797(2) Å, c = 16.670(4) Å, β = 96.76(1)° and Z = 4. The molecular and crystal structure of the title molecule is stabilized by hydrogen bond interactions, CH⋯N and CH⋯O, visualized with the help of dark red spots on the Hirshfeld surface of the molecule. The O⋯H and N⋯H intermolecular contacts play a crucial role in the stabilization of the molecular structure.
