Recent advances in crystalline hydrated borates with non-metal or transition-metal complex cations

New structural types of polyborate anions have been prepared in recent years. One example (shown) is the octaborate(2−) anion as found in [Co(en)3][B5O6(OH)4][B8O10(OH)6]·5H2O.
