Sweetness and light: Sugar-functionalized CˆN and NˆN ligands in [Ir(CˆN)2(NˆN)]Cl complexes

A series of ribofuranose-functionalized cyclometallated [Ir(CˆN)2(NˆN)]+ complexes is reported; modulation of photophysical and electrochemical properties through substitution of the CˆN or NˆN ligands conforms with the expected frontier orbital contributions from the {Ir(CˆN)2} or NˆN domains.235
