A new nitrogen heterocyclic carbene containing diiron complex as bio-inspired catalyst for proton reduction and benzene hydroxylation

A nitrogen heterocyclic carbene containing diiron complex, (μ-dmedt)[Fe2(CO)5IPr], is synthesized and used as a bio-inspired catalyst for both electro-chemical proton reduction and highly selective hydroxylation of benzene.
