Organic matter provenance, palaeoproductivity and bottom water anoxia during the Cenomanian/Turonian oceanic anoxic event in the Newfoundland Basin (northern proto North Atlantic Ocean)

► During the OAE-2 interval terrestrial OM input was minimal-most OM of marine origin. ► Bottom water conditions occasionally anoxic during the OAE-2 interval. ► Anoxic bottom water conditions not as prevalent as at Southern North Atlantic OAE-2 sites. ► Trace amounts of isorenieratane provided evidence for occasional occurrence of photic zone anoxia.
