Biogeochemical processes involving acetate in sub-seafloor sediments from the Bering Sea shelf break

► Carbon isotopic composition of acetate in pore water from Bering slope was measured. ► The data indicate the principal process producing acetate was fermentation. ► 10-15% of contribution of acetogenesis to total acetate production was estimated. ► Some relationship exists between acetate production rate and TOC content.
