Molecular composition and chemotaxonomic aspects of Eocene amber from the Ameki Formation, Nigeria

► Structural class and botanical source of Eocene amber from Nigeria was determined. ► The amber belongs to Class Ib type. ► The terpenoids composition of the amber points to a conifer (gymnosperm) source. ► Our results contrast with the angiosperm source previously suggested for the amber.
