A heterotetrameric alpha-amylase inhibitor from emmer (Triticum dicoccon Schrank) seeds

► We have isolated and characterized a Triticum dicoccon α-amylase inhibitor (ETI). ► ETI is a heterotetramer (CM subunits) homologous to inhibitors from common wheat. ► ETI subunits are also active, in binary assemblies, against heterologous α-amylases. ► Kis are estimated for PPA and HSA inhibition by the tetramer and the binary assembly. ► We propose a possible homology-modeled structure for a tetrameric assembly.
