Antiplasmodial activity of cucurbitacin glycosides from Datisca glomerata (C. Presl) Baill

► Nine datiscosides were isolated by antiplasmodial assay guided fractionation. ► Moderate in vitro antiplasmodial activity (IC50 from 7.7 to 33.3 μM) was observed. ► Cytotoxicity against L6 but not CHO cells was observed. ► No cytotoxicity against Leishmania tarentolae was observed. ► The selective cytotoxicity of the compounds warrants further investigation.
