Labdane-type diterpenoids from hairy root cultures of Coleus forskohlii, possible intermediates in the biosynthesis of forskolin

► Secondary metabolites of Coleus forskohlii hairy roots were investigated. ► Twenty two compounds including four forskolin derivates and a monoterpene were isolated. ► A biosynthetic pathway to forskolin is proposed.
