α-Santalol derivatives from Santalum album and their cytotoxic activities

► α-Santalol derivatives were isolated from Santalum album heartwood. ► Fourteen compounds were evaluated for their cytotoxicity against HL-60 and TIG-3cells. ► (9S,10E)-9-hydroxy-α-santalal showed tumor selective cytotoxicity. ► It also induced caspase-dependent apoptotic cell death in HL-60 cells.
