Four terpene synthases produce major compounds of the gypsy moth feeding-induced volatile blend of Populus trichocarpa

► Four terpene synthases from Populus trichocarpa were identified and characterized. ► PtTPS1-4 are involved in the production of major volatile compounds. ► The full spectrum of volatiles emitted from P. trichocarpa is documented.
