► This study reports on a cyclodepsipeptide, lagunamide C, from the marine cyanobacterium, Lyngbya majuscula. ► Lagunamide C displayed significant cytotoxic property against various cancer cell lines. ► This compound represents an hitherto unknown sub-class of aurilide-related molecules.
