Antifungal metabolites from fungal endophytes of Pinus strobus

► Extracts of five foliar fungal endophytes from Pinus strobus were antifungal. ► An aliphatic polyketide and three related sesquiterpenes were characterized. ► Pyrenophorol, dihydropyrenophorin and pyrenophorin were identified. ► Structures were elucidated by 2D NMR and LC-HRMS. ► Isolated compounds were antifungal against Saccharomyces cerevisae and Microbotryum violaceum.
