Pentacyclic polyketides from Endiandra kingiana as inhibitors of the Bcl-xL/Bak interaction

► We investigated the constituents of the bark of Endiandra kingiana. ► Activity-guided isolation led to the discovery of 14 polyketides as racemic mixtures. ► The compounds possess an unprecedented pentacyclic framework. ► Seven coupled of enantiomers were obtained after chiral separations. ► Six compounds exhibited significant binding affinity for the antiapoptotic protein Bcl-xL.
