Biosynthesis of hermidin from Mercurialis annua: A retrobiosynthetic study

Cut seedlings of Mercurialis annua were labelled with [1-13C]glucose or [U-13C4,15N]aspartate. The labelling patterns of hermidin suggest a biosynthetic pathway via nicotinate as an intermediate.
