Indanone and mellein derivatives from the Garcinia-derived fungus Xylaria sp. PSU-G12

► The endophytic fungus Xylaria sp. PSU-G12 was isolated from Garcinia hombroniana. ► One new indanone, one new mellein and 7 known compounds were obtained by this fungus. ► This is the first report on the isolation of indanones from the genus Xylaria. ► 3-Hydroxy-4-methyl-1-indanone was reported for the first time as a natural product.
