Flavonoids and other constituents of Hymenostegia afzelii (Caesalpiniaceae)

► We investigated the stem bark and leaves of Hymenostegia afzelii. ► We isolated and characterized three new prenylated flavonoids named afzelin A-C (1-3) from the leaves. ► No prenylated flavonoids were present in the stem bark. The new compounds exhibited cytotoxicity in vitro on Brine shrimp.
